3 Ways to Increase Visibility for Your Coaching Business Using Instagram

Since launching 10 years ago, Instagram has become one of the world’s most popular social media channels. A staggering 1 billion monthly active users access the platform for an average of 28 minutes per day, giving businesses with Instagram accounts a unique advantage. More than 200 million Instagram users visit at least one business profile per day, and 70% of Instagram users use the platform to discover new businesses and products.

These data demonstrate Instagram’s broad influence and reach, making the platform an important acquisition resource for coaches looking for ways to increase visibility, promote the benefits of coaching and gain new clients.

Here are three actions to help build awareness around your coaching services and grow your business on Instagram.

1. Post Engaging Visuals

Instagram is all about the visual. Pictures and videos have the power to convey your coaching narrative in an instant, engaging way. When you plan your social media calendar, consider what will visually resonate with your target demographic. Posting original materials from your coaching sessions (with permission, of course) will allow potential clients to gain sense of your coaching style and what differentiates your business from others. Currently, #lifecoach, #lifecoaching and #professionalcoach are some of the most popular coaching-related hashtags, used in more than 13 million posts on Instagram. Using these hashtags in your posts can introduce your brand to millions of prospective coaching clients and potentially increase revenue for your business.

To discover which hashtags are gaining the most traction at any given time, search relevant coaching words and phrases in the Instagram search bar and peruse the results for tags that align with your brand, business and audience.

In addition to hashtags, using location tags in your native posts can help put your content in front of users who are in the same regions, providing your brand with a different discovery avenue. You can also tag locations where you hope to grow your business to widen your reach.

3. Follow Relevant Accounts

Relationship building is a two-way street. Even if you post visually appealing content and use the best hashtags, you still need to be actively engaged on the platform to find and follow users who may be interested in utilizing a professional coach to achieve their personal or professional goals. Researching hashtags and the relevant accounts they’re attached to is a great way to determine what users find engaging and would like to see more of in your content and services in the future.
